Ballet Frog

Finally, another portfolio piece!

So, you know how it is sitting all by yourself painting for hour on end, and you get to a point where you can't really tell whether something stinks or not? That's how I feel about this painting, and it's weirding me out! So, how do you think it holds up, quality-wise compared with the rest of my portfolio? What would make it better?

Otherwise, this was pretty fun. Frogs in tuxes and evening gowns just proved to be irresistible subject matter.

Becca! Im surprised only a few have commented on this. Im going to start following your blog. I love your stuff. Okay this one is great I think, I love the concept, the divisions of space, the pose is charming. Here's some little things I think could make it stronger: gradation from warm to cool of top right red section going cool in the distance, a couple more subtle reeds farther to the right of the ones you already have to break up the blank space of the stage there, a couple of way lighter lights at the focal point to make it pop. I think it's great though Becca.

This is a late comment, but I just found your blog. The fly gets a little lost but other than that I really like it. The frogs are a lot of fun! Great characters.

Hi! I know it's been a long time since we've seen eachother... still remember me? Anyhow - I love this piece. The pose is terrific! And I love the textures too.

Hey Becca...this will be totally random...I came across your blog somehow...and it just reminded me of all the drawings you would do in middle school and how I always loved them. I LOVE this one of the ballet frog. You are so beyond talented! I am pretty jealous and I want a copy of this painting!! Lol! BTW this is Ashley Nielson...in case you were wondering!
