Halfway into this doodle I realized it wanted to be the main guy from 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy. Normally, dark themes really aren't my thing - and it is a pretty haunting read - but when tragedy brings out the very best in human nature (and it's beautifully written), I'm totally captivated.
The background is intentionally simple, reflecting a post-apocalyptic world nearly devoid of life as well as the spare style in which the story is written.

nice mood created. I have wanted to read that book..in spite of its darkness.
I saw this and the first thing that popped into my head was "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief". :) Love it!
I just watched the movie version of The Road. Scariest movie I've seen in a long time. Holy cow. *shivers* But really good and I think the sketch is a good likeness.
You caught a mood indeed. Wonderful expression. Keep up the art.
